Anxiety Disorders
Let's face it: life can be very stressful. This stress can manifest itself in numerous ways one of which is anxiety, a familiar feeling for many. Anxiety is a feeling of worry or nervousness that can potentially hinder your ability to enjoy life freely, always in the back of your mind and distracting you from the moments that truly matter most.
Anxiety is a perfectly normal feeling in many situations, as your fight or flight reflex kicks in when faced with real danger, as a self-preservation mechanism. Unfortunately, many people suffer from generalized anxiety, or what happens when the switch that controls the perfectly normal mechanism of anxiety gets stuck in its βonβ position preparing your body for danger even when you are completely safe. Over time this anxiety can snowball and when in an overly stressful situation may lead to panic attacks, a feeling of anxiety so deep that it affects you not just mentally but physically as well. Panic attacks commonly result in a racing heart, sweating, nausea, and dizziness, which can definitely ruin your weekend.
Social anxiety is another form of anxiety that is also extremely prevalent especially among teenagers and young adults as they begin building their own identity and face the world on their own for the first time. This can lead to nervousness and reluctance to involve themselves in social situations as they a freaking out and not enjoying themselves.
